Klimatf\u00f6r\u00e4ndringarna kan f\u00e5 f\u00f6r\u00f6dande effekter f\u00f6r inv\u00e5nare p\u00e5 utsatta platser i Anderna och den tibetanska h\u00f6gplat\u00e5n, enligt forskare vid Ohio State University d\u00e4r man studerat glaci\u00e4rerna i dessa omr\u00e5den under \u00e5rtionden.<\/span><\/p>

Enligt deras resultat krymper dessa glaci\u00e4rer snabbare \u00e4n de gjort under de senaste 10 000 \u00e5ren och det inneb\u00e4r att vattentillg\u00e5ngen i delar av Peru, Pakistan, Kina, Indien och Nepal kommer att minska \u2013 och det snart. Men samtidigt v\u00e4xer befolkningarna och behovet \u00f6kar. Sm\u00e4ltande glaci\u00e4rer kan f\u00f6rutom effekten p\u00e5 vattenf\u00f6rs\u00f6rjningen \u00e4ven leda till faror som jordskred och \u00f6versv\u00e4mningar.<\/span><\/p>

\u2013 I b\u00e4sta fall kommer h\u00e4lften av isen att f\u00f6rsvinna till 2100. I s\u00e4msta fall, tv\u00e5 tredjedelar. Och det finns m\u00e5nga m\u00e4nniskor som \u00e4r beroende av den f\u00f6r vatten, s\u00e4ger Lonnie Thompson, klimatforskare vid Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center vid Ohio State. Han presenterade resultaten tidigare i december vid American Geophysical Unions \u00e5rliga m\u00f6te.<\/span><\/p>
